The Atlas–Headache Connection

If you deal with migraines, dizziness, or vertigo, you’ve probably tried everything — medications, hydration, supplements, or rest. But few people realize the problem might not be in your head… it’s in your neck. Specifically, the atlas (C1) — the top bone in your spine.

The atlas sits directly under your skull and surrounds the brainstem, which controls blood flow, balance, and pressure regulation inside the head. When the atlas shifts out of position, it can distort the signals passing between your brain and body and interfere with how blood and cerebrospinal fluid move around the brain.

That’s why a misaligned atlas can contribute to symptoms like migraines, dizziness, or that heavy pressure feeling behind the eyes. At Rapid Chiro, we use precision x-rays to determine the exact direction and degree of atlas misalignment, then make a gentle NUCCA correction to restore balance and proper communication.

When the atlas is properly aligned, nerve flow, balance, and pressure normalize — often reducing the intensity or frequency of headaches and vertigo.
